Concert Band

Coronation Overture Grade 3; $50.00 Score
This concert-opener begins with a brass fanfare. This moves into a noble melody in a march style, set off by woodwind ornamentation. The fanfare returns to usher in the beautiful second theme, which builds to a glorious climax, and returns to the march. The fanfare closes the piece with a flourish. This piece is playable by a full band playing at an intermediate level.
In Flight Grade 5; $75.00 Score
This piece, commissioned by Sue Simpkins for her brother-in-law Tim MacDonald, explores the exhilaration of flying in a vintage WWII Texan. The music depicts the plane taking off in the early morning, and performing stunning acrobatics in the air, then soaring through a cloudbank, emerging for a breathtaking climax and a racing finish. This piece will be a wonderful experience for your advanced concert band.
Festival (Concert March) Grade 3-4; 50.00 Score
This concert march, written as a composition assignment, follows the traditional march form, while bringing new and interesting themes into the march form. Full of surprising twists and turns, woodwind flourishes, and interwoven melodies and countermelodies, this march will challenge your band and satisfy your audience.
Peace Grade 3-4; $75.00 Score
This selection is purely musical in nature, with a beautiful theme that emerges in calm and develops up to a stunning climax, subsiding to tranquility again at the end. Not very technically challenging, but full of tight harmonies and long phrases, this selection will be very appropriate for your mature band.
Requiem Grade 5-6; $125.00 Score
This 12-minute piece explores the emotions aroused by death. The first section is full of grief, confusion, and anger. However, a second theme, representing peace and hope, emerges, and brings the piece to its emotional climax of assurance. The other themes return, but they are all drowned out or altered by the peace theme, which builds to a stunning ending. This piece is suited to a top-tier wind ensemble at either the high school or university level, and requires a full instrumentation, including E Flat Soprano and B Flat Contrabass Clarinets.
Sunrise Grade 4; $50.00 Score
This tone poem begins with a theme representing night. The world slowly wakes up, as birds begin to sing, and the sun rises over the horizon. The sun theme finally emerges in all its glory, and the piece closes with a fanfare for the new day. Perfect for a well-rounded high-school band.
When Morning Gilds the Skies Grade 5-6; $75.00 Score
This is a setting of the 18th century hymn of the same name. An altered version of the melody is used in the opening section, full of rhythmic vitality and suddent twist and turns of melody. The original form of the melody is stated in the middle of the piece in a chorale style. The altered melody returns at the end for a majestic finish. This technically demanding piece is good for an advanced concert band.
